Problem with Radeon X850XT card - 2005/08/25 12:55 Hello,

I hope someone can help me, I have a Radeon X850XT graphics card plugged into a Gigabyte GA K8NSNXP motherboard. When I boot, the monitor displays a very distorted image, but we have discovered if we press Ctrl and Up arrow or Shift and Up arrow on the first beep after booting we get a clear picture and are able to use Windows (XP), does anyone know why this is happening?

We have all of the latest drivers, the latest BIOS, we have flashed the BIOS, but it will not work without pressing those buttons.

Re:Problem with Radeon X850XT card - 2005/08/25 15:09 Did you have a previous ATI card? If you did then I would suggest uninstalling the ATI driver, restart, and reinstall.

Re:Problem with Radeon X850XT card - 2005/08/25 15:13 No, the graphics card I had in was an old basic NVIDIA GeForce card. There shouldn't be any drivers on for that card, I plugged it in and it worked without installing any drivers.

Re:Problem with Radeon X850XT card - 2005/08/25 15:14 Also, if you had a NVIDIA card before I would suggest picking up Driver Cleaner Pro and clean the NVIDIA graphics driver info off of your system because I know when I had my GeForce 6800 and switched over to the Radeon X800XT PE I had alot of problems with the ATI card till I cleaned all of the NVIDIA display drivers off of my system and reinstall the ATI drivers.

Re:Problem with Radeon X850XT card - 2005/08/25 15:33 Correct! Make sure the previous graphics card drivers are first removed from your system if else they will interfere later on... So use Driver Cleaner and remove all drivers and start from scratch!

I think it may be a fault with my motherboard, so I'm going to take it back to the place I bought it from with my graphics card so they can test it, I'll get them to try the card in another motherboard (same model) see what result we get.

Re:Problem with Radeon X850XT card - 2005/08/26 12:10 Wel in yoru case I would just have re-installed my Windows from scratch... Cause there might be still something from the old graphics card on the system that would somehow interfere and cause these issues.
