Sapphire Radeon 9600 freezing my comp... - 2005/08/11 07:27 I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600 256MB, I don't know if it's Pro or XT or whatever, I just had it installed on my computer cause my old video card got fried from an electrical surge. I overclocked it, and ever since I did, my computer freezes out of nowhere, even on idle.

I don't know what to do, I put the clocking back to normal and uninstalled the overclocking program. I even reformatted my computer and it doesn't help. I'm new to this kinda stuff, and yeah I did something kinda stupid. I regret it. Can someone please help me?

And also how it is clocked stock, the type/brand of memory it is on the card and which drivers you are using. Next to that we also would like to get the Original BIOS on the card so we can check it out... Can all that be provided?

Re:Sapphire Radeon 9600 freezing my comp... - 2005/08/11 08:54 Hmm so far I found out it's a Radeon 9600 Pro... I looked at the receipt. Hopefully it's right, they didn't give me the box which is sad. The driver I have is ATI Catalyst Control Center version 1.2.2, which is the one I just updated it to a while ago. I don't know what type or brand of memory it has... Yeah how sad I don't know anything .

The BIOS...well I looked and it says BIOS Ver.: 008.017D.031.00. I hope that part helps. As for the clock info...core clock is 398MHz and memory clock is 222MHz. If any info doesn't help tell me what's missing, I'll try to get the info and if you can help me find the info thanks. I really appreciate the help a lot.

You didn't mention that your old card got fried. Your motherboard could have been damaged too.

Yeps indeed that could be! One thing though cause you say I know nothing or not much on the card. Just open your PC and pull the card out... You will then be able to check what is needed like what is written on the memory chips... And get us the BIOS.
