PowerColor 9800SE BIOS (urgently needed) - 2005/06/01 03:08 Hey people,

I've been searching for the origional BIOS for my PowerColor Radeon 9800SE (which I accidentally overwrote) and haven't found one that works yet. The hynix 2.8ns one produces memory artifacts and I need the one for the 324/289MHz version (SC3, rather than the C3 variant).

I was referred here by a member at Pimprig who said you guys could probably make or find me what I need.

Thanks.

P.S.: This is the type on a Radeon 9500/9700 PCB and this is exactly the card I got...

Re:PowerColor 9800SE BIOS (urgently needed) - 2005/06/01 22:25 Thanks and I appologize for what happened when I hit the post button (some wierd freezing problem and slow-acting internet after trying to install Java runtime for Firefox that subsided with a restart) but it accidentally got entered three times!!!

Yeah I saw. Well no harm done I cleared that up from the forums. Well I am home now, so let's see what I can dig up for you.

Re:PowerColor 9800SE BIOS (urgently needed) - 2005/06/02 00:02 Thanks for the files, though the Rev.01/Rev.02 both appear to be the same Rev.01 file, as does the Rev.03/Rev.04 appear to both be Rev.03. So what I end up with is duplicates of Rev.01 and Rev.03. Both of which, unfortunately appear to be PAL in RaBiT, though every BIOS I've checked with the program appears to be PAL!

Re:PowerColor 9800SE BIOS (urgently needed) - 2005/06/02 08:05 Well I guess you didn't check all that well. Cause each Rev.xx I indicate is really different from the other. Why? Well then you have to basically check with a Hex Editor and do a Hex compare. First Rev.01 and Rev.02 only have one slight change which is in the encoding of 4 bits, so the change is really limited.

On the Rev.03 and Rev.04 well there the Date and other things are different so those are not the same versions. Yeah RaBiT is just a tool to see certain things of an ATI BIOS but not all things. Basically more the general info and then info that can be changed...

Re:PowerColor 9800SE BIOS (urgently needed) - 2005/06/02 08:08 Then your comment on PAL... Why is that an issue? Cause on an ATI BIOS, this is just a parameter, which you can set at NTSC or PAL. But the rest of the BIOS is completely the same, so if you get a PAL BIOS and you want to be for NTSC, just change it with RaBiT, save the BIOS and then it is okay.

Re:PowerColor 9800SE BIOS (urgently needed) - 2005/06/02 22:37 Thanks for clearing this up, I still don't have the right BIOS and still get memory artifacts, really wish I wouldn't have gotten the cheaper 324/289MHz clocked SC3 card, because this has been literally impossible to find the right BIOS anywhere on the internet. I doubt PowerColor even knows what the correct one is though, as Tul does all the manufacturing... Thanks again for the effort though. And by the way, do you know if Radeon 9800's usually came with Hynix or Samsung memory?
