Silencer 3 and Asus 9800XT - 2005/05/28 23:43 A friend's Asus Radeon 9800XT had a serious problem. One of the fans post melted off and so he gave it to me to fix. The only thing I thought of was putting an Arctic Cooling Silencer 3 on this card so I ordered it without looking into a conflict. Well I see there is a problem with the fan pluggin and the Asus fan pluggin. Does anyone know what wires go were so I can just solder them together so the fan works right off of the card? Any info much appreciated!

Re:Silencer 3 and Asus 9800XT - 2005/05/30 20:20 Asus always has a bit of a different card then all the others... Mmm I think I saw something about it, but it has been some time. If I find it back I will post it here. I did already some first checking, but didn't find it back yet. If I find it, I will let you know.

Re:Silencer 3 and Asus 9800XT - 2005/06/05 05:30 Well this might help Mavke! I gave up trying to use the Asus pluggin so I could plug the Silencer into the card, so I went out to my shop, cut off the fan pluggin from a Athlon 64 heatsink and started splicing. Red+Red, Black+Black, and Blue from the 3-pin to the yellow on the Silencer. It works!! Fan spinning and working great. The only bad thing is he will need to plug it into a fan adapter but to me that would be no big deal because I can tell this Silencer(w/ the Ceramique) is making a difference in the cards stock performance.

Re:Silencer 3 and Asus 9800XT - 2005/06/05 23:07 I worked some more on his card and now have the Silencer working from the VGA fan pluggin now. Basically followed the same connections @ the top and it is working fine. Even the Asus Smartdoctor works and is displaying everything correctly.
