You own a XGI Volari Graphics Card? Let us know... - 2005/04/24 11:33 Well I thought I would start this off as well as XGI is also making some decent cards. Yeah mayb enot the fastest but they are not that expensive and also perform well for the price you pay. So who owns one? And can get us some feedback? Or just wants to share his/her opinion?

Re:You own a XGI Volari Graphics Card? Let us know... - 2005/04/27 03:40 I've had a Volari V8 128MB card for about 2 months now. I have tested around 40 games for short periods of time and benchmarked the heck out of it.

As of today it already has a modified Iceberq Pro Cooler and a V8 Extreme Lite BIOS file that relaxes my ram timings however higher overclock and of course slight overall performance boost.

I think XGI got off to a bad start with the drivers but they are coming along quite well. Currently the Reactor v1.08 WHQL are out which are the 1.08.53 drivers. Only a handful of games with slight problems.

This card as I have compared to my Ti4200 can in most aspects keep up when overclocked however remember the Volari supports up to PS 2.0 shaders where as the Ti4200 is P.S 1.3?

My card is XGI version with core running at 300MHz and memory was at 250MHz. Memory is Samsung 4ns which is same memory as on my Ti4200. Volari clocks can reach 375MHz core and 285MHz memory before the slightest bit of artifacting. I think better voltage circuitry would've helped the ram as my Ti4200 can O/C to 310MHz?

So with my modified BIOS I can now reach 305-310MHz on ram on the XGI Volari V8.

This card runs games about as expected for its performance range for NVIDIA around the FX5600-5700 models and ATI Radeon 9600 or 9600SE?

Has a tough time with Doom 3, Half-Life 2, FarCry as expected. Runs Call of Duty excellent IMO...

375/285MHz - High Quality - 1600x1200 : 38
375/285MHz - High Quality & 4xAF- 1600x1200 : 36

So that is about it...

Re:You own a XGI Volari Graphics Card? Let us know... - 2005/04/27 04:32 Good post! What about the XGI Volari Duo V8? It has dual GPUs! Tom's Hardware Guide has them benchin' near the 5800 and 9800 in 3DMark03. Has anyone else benched this card?

Would you have your Original BIOS? Cause I want to start up the download section as well for XGI a bit and well someone has to be the first to supply his Original BIOS... So I hope you could be the first one...

Re:You own a XGI Volari Graphics Card? Let us know... - 2005/05/27 19:25 I have an XGI Volari card too, the V3XT 128MB.

Good little card IMO: cheap, fanless, and with a good (HD) TV-Output too. As expected from a $50 card, 3D performance is a little weak, but it runs my games fine.

Are you able to provide us your Original BIOS of the card? Cause we are starting the collection of XGI BIOS's... And all can help to get a nice download section up and running with XGI stuff...

Re:You own a XGI Volari Graphics Card? Let us know... - 2005/05/27 20:23 Sure, but how do I do that?

Re:You own a XGI Volari Graphics Card? Let us know... - 2005/05/29 20:29 Never mind, I found the program called WinFlash and have made a backup of the BIOS.

Here it is...

Thanks for the BIOS... So this is an AGP card, correct?
