Radeon X800 XL on nForce4 board? - 2005/02/15 02:05 The Radeon X800 XL is looking really good to me now, but I just ordered a KN1 nForce4 board, and it occured to me that the two may not work so well together. Anyone know if there would be a problem running the Radeon X800 XL on a nForce4 board? Thanks!

Re:Radeon X800 XL on nForce4 board? - 2005/02/15 02:25 I saw a thread on DriverHeaven forums where a guy had problems with a Radeon X800 XT and an ASUS nForce4 SLI board.

Re:Radeon X800 XL on nForce4 board? - 2005/02/15 22:49 Well, here's a review on Bjorn3D of the Sapphire Radeon X800 LX (which is the one on transit to me!) using a Foxconn nForce4 Ultra board. There is no mention of any problems. Performance is a dead even with the GeForce 6800 GT, but uping the favors on the Radeon X800 XL.
Sapphire Radeon X800 XL 256MB PCI-E Review

He mentions the MSRP of $299 as a joke, and that was disappointing to me also. Maybe it will drop. No SLI support? The board I have coming only has one 16x slot. Anyway, the way I go through hardware I've learned to think in terms of what's good for now, and now has become a very short time for me lately. I play with it for a while and sell it, trying to take as little hit as possible.

Re:Radeon X800 XL on nForce4 board? - 2005/03/22 23:29 The only problem I have seen with ATI cards on nForce4 chipsets was on a friends PC I built for him. He bought the ATI Radeon X850 XT PE with an ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe. Luckily I check for BIOS updates and there was an issue with this card on the board. After updating the BIOS it worked fine. You might want to check for BIOS updates for the board you ordered.

Re:Radeon X800 XL on nForce4 board? - 2005/03/23 01:18 So am I right in concluding that you ordered the ECS KN1 Extreme mainboard which is build around the NVIDIA nForce4 chipset? Just to make sure we all know what you exactly ordered. And for what I know the Radeon X800 XL should work okay on a nForce4 mainboard. Yeah sometimes there is a BIOS update needed. But that is generally because ASUS is a Tier1 and has their board out very soon and well then have a good support team to fix issues when they come along with BIOS updates. other try to bring out a board at a later stage and which works immediatly better with different hardware...

Re:Radeon X800 XL on nForce4 board? - 2005/03/23 16:03 PowerColor's Radeon X800 XL works just fine on the MVKTech-DFI nF4 SLI-DR test rig.

That is what I was thinking, but I was waiting for that feedback from you John. Since you are working with the such a card.
