Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/15 15:24 Well then the timings of the memory might be to strict and then only allow lower speeds then the memory is capable of. When I put very strict timings on my 6800GT then I can only reach 950MHz and when I use the GT/Ultra timings I can reach 1150MHz... So you will have to play around with that.

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/15 17:54 And how can I adjust timings? I don't know HEX that much......

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/15 18:38 You can use NiBiTor v2.0a, as that will be able to help you on changing the values...
NiBiTor v2.0a

You can then also download some GT/Ultra BIOS and use those timings to put on your 6800 standard BIOS. These GT/Ultra timings will be less strict.

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/15 20:01 Well you should try the GT/Ultra timings like Mavke said, but you wrote that the memory worked well on 800MHz before you broke that thing. I would guess that maybe a single memory chip (the one with the broken thing) get instable voltages and so can't be overclocked anymore (or something similar). Try to go to NVIDIA Control Panel and check the "Determine Optimal Frequencies". I would guess that you can't even reach the 700MHz for memory now. Well I really hope that the problem is something else!

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/16 10:01 I'm taking the card to repaire guy at TV repairing shop, to solder the capacitor back. That should make it work at 800MHz like before, and with GT BIOS timings I could reach 900MHz (2.2ns = 900MHz).

Let's hope it will work like that. I'll tell you then.
Thanks for replies...

SetSero, it detects 325/700MHz.

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/16 19:42 So you broke a capacitor on it? Most probably then one that controls the voltage send to the memory and now it get's less voltage so less speed can be achieved... I will be hard to get that fixed.

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/16 21:54 Yep... Let some pros repair it will be the best thing you can do. It's always a little suspicious when a card detects excactly it's stock speeds (325/700MHz) for maximum. This usually means that the test can't pass these speeds, and so switch back to the default speeds (that are given in BIOS). Make sure to tell us if the repair worked.

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/17 19:35 The capacitor was repaired, but i still can't OC.
I tried BFG Ultra timings for memory, but i still can't OC....
So i guess it's just the card, that can not be overclocked. I don't exactly remember if i was running it at 800mhz before kicking off the capacitor. Anyway 2.2ns = 900mhz, so this is all weird.
Core can't be (stable) overclocked that much too. So i think it's just the card and can't be overclocked. Inno3d was never that good in OC. Anyway, i'm running 16/6 370/700 1.4V rock-stable no artifacts, 4000 marks in 3Dmark 2005 and i don't care anymore
I might try to RMA the card later maybe..... but i wanna forget this now.
Or maybe the capacitor wasn't soldered correctly?

who knows.....

Thanks anyway guys

Re:6800NU - Can't OC mem - 2005/03/17 22:34 Okay, but indeed the capacitor could still be the issue... But who know? To bad cause it should be able to do more then that.
