Radeon HD 5870 giving black screen during post, how comes? - 2010/01/30 02:07 I just got my Core i7 system built and I put my Radeon HD 5870 in and started the machine. I have a black screen during post until it gets to the onboard raid BIOS portion of the bootup. So I can't see any of the post info and I have to repeatedly press the delete key to try to get into the BIOS because I can't see the screen when it tells you to press delete. Any ideas why this is happening? It didn't do this with the Radeon HD 4870 X2 card that I had.

Do you have the same computer as when you were using that Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics card? Cause you mention that you just got done building your Core i7 system, so did you use that X2 version on it as well? If not you can't start comparing, as this could be a simple option in the system BIOS cause I have seen that before and you can simply disable that in the system BIOS, just go through all options.

Re:Radeon HD 5870 giving black screen during post, how comes? - 2010/01/31 22:32 what board you running? it is the way you configured the PCI-E portion of the bios. this normally pertains to the Gigabyte boads as you can select pci-e 1 - however many you have. clear cmos and reset the primary VGA to the apropreiate PCI-E your card is in.
