PowerColor Radeon X1950 PRO no posts, just a blank screen? - 2009/11/04 17:11 Hello, just a few days ago my PowerColor Radeon X1950 PRO graphics card with 256MB memory and PCI Express interface stopped working. When I start computer my LCD display I don't see any signal from graphics card. The screen is blank, though fan on CPU and mothertboard are working normally. No beeps or error messages from motherboard BIOS either. When I installed new graphics card all works fine. I need advice, is there any possibility to resurrect this card or shall I give up? If any additional info is needed, please ask.

Cause it is quite strange that a graphics card that was working fine for a long time would just stop working just like that. Did you install something new, other drivers, software? And have you tried that Radeon X1950 graphics card also in another computer? Cause maybe something is really wrong with the card and that would mean it won't work on another computer either.

Regarding software on my computer, well I don't remember that I have installed specific software or drivers before the card died. I have played online role playing game as I do every day. Next day when I start the PC, it didn't start properly with behavior like in first post.

From that aspect I would as well say that the graphics card has an issue. The only thing I would suspect that the card just gave up due to maybe some heat issues that build up over time, or due to the cooler and especially the fan becoming less effective due to dust and these Radeon X1950 series did get quite hot even with a good working fan.

On electrical layout from both sides of the graphics card no visible damage is there. Any chance to resurrect card, maybe with new BIOS?

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1950 PRO no posts, just a blank screen? - 2009/11/06 22:58 Well I still say that if you didn't clean the cooling regularly it won't operate as it did initially and that heat can build up easily. Secondly unless you can actually backup the current BIOS that resides on the card for us to check it makes no sense to try just any BIOS on it as that might do more wrong. So can you backup the BIOS for us?
