- Team Extreme 8GB Dark 1066MHz Memory

Of course the CrossFire setup of two Radeon HD 4870 cards will be faster than the single GeForce GTX 280, but why going for that when there will be soon the Radeon HD 4870 X2 or the die shrink version of the GeForce GTX 280?

Re:Need some advice more on Radeon HD 4870 CrossFire config? - 2008/07/23 04:20 Hello again, same as before I can change without any cost and for two Radeon HD 4870's its cheaper than the GeForce 280 GTX, so I get a reimbursment, and when the X2 comes and its better or the die shrunk GeForce GTX 280 I can change again without losing any value, and wanted to play with different cards and setup. In my group of friends that like to play games I'm the only one who know how to assemble a PC, tweak and overclock it with ofcourse the help and info from awesome people like in these forums where I get my knowledge from and advise and so they all agreed to take the expensive out of it cause I'm always the guinea pig

So they have talked and told me everytime I will change setups they will get my parts. They played around with to test at the same price so I won't have to burded the cost, lucky me. But at the same time would like to make sure its a upgrade for us than a downgrade. The GeForce GTX 280 was good as I managed to get it to 700/2400MHz and scored around 20520 point on 3DMark06 and frame rates with 1920x1200 resolution was very good. Will two Radeon HD 4870's hands down and beat a single GeForce GTX 280 clocked at 700/2400MHz and does the Radeon HD 4870 scale well with overclock?

And I forgot to mention that I wanted to play with the Radeon HD 4870 because my board is an MSI P45 Platinum so its gonna be more expensive if I go with the GeForce GTX 280 in SLI at the moment and second with the X2 its gonna take like after two months before we get our hands on new products because I live in a 3rd world country which is always behind. And I hope you guys don't mind that I ask a lot of questions? And one more this is flashing ATI card is it the same thing with NVIDIA cards? Like is it easy to do?

Re:Need some advice more on Radeon HD 4870 CrossFire config? - 2008/07/23 11:34 No problem mate, to ask questions. So since you got the money and means to change than surely two Radeon HD 4870's in CrossFire will beat the GeForce GTX 280, that is just natural. Though one Radeon HD 4870 won't and these don't scale well with overclocking. Related to flashing these cards it should be very similar as to the NVIDIA cards but there are less good tweaking tools for the BIOS...
