Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/10 20:46 Hi, I have a Radeon X1950 GT AGP from Sapphire since a week. It's a good card for a price of €119. After installation I modify the BIOS with RaBiT to the Radoen X1950 PRO clocks and much higher. Now I am wondering about the performance. My friend has the same system, and Athlon 3700+ S754, ASUS K8VSE Deluxe, 1GB Team Memory 400MHz and get 9600 points in 3DMark05. With my card I get 8700 points with PRO clocks. Is there a difference in PRO BIOS for extra performance? Can I flash the PRO BIOS from Sapphire to my GT? Has anyone experience with the Radeon X1950 PRO AGP? Thanks for any help...

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/11 12:17 Well the chip is actually the same for the GT and the PRO as far as I know cause they have the same RV570 core and the same pipelines and vertex units. The difference is that the GT is clocked at 500/1200MHz and the PRO at 600/1400MHz if I am not mistaken...

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/11 13:09 I did flash the BIOS, but the performance is the same. I think the card of my friend is a better one. I will flash it back and see how far it could be clocked, because with the PRO BIOS it will only goes to 621/1540MHz, with the GT it will go up to 641/1650MHz, without increasing voltage to GPU. Thanks for the answer.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/11 14:04 Maybe the GPU voltage different betveen two cards. Stock is 1.3V, but I found some Radeon X1950 PRO cards with 1.35V like ASUS or 1.4V voltage like Sapphire Ultimate X1950 PRO.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/11 16:33 In the GT BIOS I can change settings. I test it up to 1.425V. With this setting I can clock up to 653MHz GPU clock. But with PRO clocks and higher voltage it still goes to 8705 3DMarks.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/16 12:20 If you have the same system as your friends you would want to make sure your settings are the same as his in the BIOS, such as clock speeds and memory timings. For the record, more voltage does not give more performance. More voltage can get you higher clock speeds which in turn gives better performance. Two identical systems should perform the same way with only minor difference.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/16 17:37 We have both the same Hardware and Settings. Two days ago i test his Card on my Computer and it runs with the same Power as on his Computer. What i can see is that his Card runs 5-8 C° lower as mine. In think that my Card not run correct. Have send a mail to Sapphire. Still waiting !

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/05/16 22:16 That's pretty strang, the temps being different is no big deal... Well if your side panel was off when using his card in your computer of course the temps will be lower but if not that is odd.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 GT AGP to PRO clock, performance? - 2007/06/05 10:35 Hi, you got the Radeon X1950 GT and your friend the Radeon X1950 PRO and they are of the same brand? You test his card in your PC, and did you get the same 3DMark score? Did you compair your score with other people who have a Radeon X1950 GT? I think there is nothing wrong with your card. Does it matter that your friends card is better? Well good luck.
