MSI Radeon X800 PRO, badly flashed with problems... - 2007/02/14 13:06 Hi, a friend came to me with his Radeon X800 PRO card, he had tried to flash the BIOS and now the card isn't working anymore. I've tried with a PCI card but the PC won't boot, when I remove the Radeon X800 PRO it boots perfectly with the PCI card. So I tried using an integrated graphics card with the Radeon X800 PRO installed. That works, I can start from a bootdisk but FlashROM says ATI video adapter not found. I tried displaying the info with it isn't recognized. Any suggestions.

Re:MSI Radeon X800 PRO, badly flashed with problems... - 2007/02/14 15:40 You should try ATIFlash to get the flashing working as that is the best program to do so. I wouldn't try FlashROM as it isn't that flexible and not kept up to date as far as I know.

Re:MSI Radeon X800 PRO, badly flashed with problems... - 2007/02/14 17:40 Hi, thanks. I've already tried that, same problem. Tomorrow I'll try reprogramming the BIOS. I found the BIOS chip, a 25P05AV from ST, I'm guessing that it is corrupt and the PC doesn't recognize the card anymore. My dad has an EEPROM programmer for programming chips from mainboards, etc... I've done it twice before, one with a NV ram chip from an HP Color LaserJet and a another time with an ASUS GeForce 6800 GT, an they both working perfectly.

Re:MSI Radeon X800 PRO, badly flashed with problems... - 2007/02/14 18:13 I guess you are right on that, with the BIOS flash not really successful it could well be that the card can be recognized correctly and therefore fails. If you got the tools to reprogram the BIOS chip then you are very lucky. Well good luck and let us know if it worked or not.

Re:MSI Radeon X800 PRO, badly flashed with problems... - 2007/02/15 19:46 I just got home, it was a difficult procedure. But it is working again. I read in the BIOS and it was for a PCI Express card, so I flashed the AGP BIOS back in to it with the EEPROM programmer and it works!
