Radeon X1900 XT cooled with a Mach II GT does not work... - 2006/02/28 15:34 Hello, I installed my ASUS Radeon X1900 XT, cooled it with a Mach II GT and I have the following problem. The PC boots normally, the screen is displayed but as soon as the Mach II head temperature reaches about -40°C, the screen becomes light blue. In the Catalyst 6.2, the temperature indicated was 120°C, probably a bug temperature when it is too low.

Then when I waited a few quarters and restarted the PC, the graphisc card worked but the phenomenon happened again. For the insulation, I was very careful, nail varnish, seal string and neoprene or dielectric grease all over the graphics card and on the motherboard DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-D. I switched of the 2 following ATI services; ATI Smart and ATI Hotkey.

So, is it the cold bug which affects my card in particular? Or a driver bug? And if it is the cold bug, is there a means to bypass it? With NVIDIA cards, disabling the temperature sensor by modifying the card BIOS solved the problem. But with ATI cards, I don't know. I would appreciate your help very much. Thanks.

Re:Radeon X1900 XT cooled with a Mach II GT does not work... - 2006/03/04 11:31 I just want to already say something. I have checked this a small bit but couldn't really find anything in the BIOS related to this. Of course since I don't have a Radeon X1900 XT I can't really do much of testing and so on. But I will check around to see what I can find out...

Re:Radeon X1900 XT cooled with a Mach II GT does not work... - 2006/03/04 11:37 Okay, thanks. My problem seems to be the cold bug. But I wonder if it hardware related or BIOS related. I searched on ATI site but I found nothing.

I am just wondering how ar ethose other sites doing those Dry Ice experiments and don't run into this issue like you... Cause that is with extreme cooling so they should also end up with this cold bug but I never saw this...

Re:Radeon X1900 XT cooled with a Mach II GT does not work... - 2006/03/04 12:15 Or, maybe, the ones which encounter the cold bug don't publish their failure !

I asked nordichardware website to give me a feedback about their experiment (they successfully cooled a X1900XTX with dry ice) and their bios but I did not have a feedback about their bios up to now.
