GeForce 8800 GTX SLI flashing, help as I'm a bit lost... - 2007/03/04 10:40Hey, NiBiTor is great, but I'm having trouble flashing the new BIOS to my graphics cards... I create a DOS bootable disk and then I can't write to the floppy anymore, I made a boot disk manually and when I tried to boot from it, it said non system disk, replace and press any key to continue. Can someone give me a step by step to flashing video card BIOS? I'm running a SLI config with two PNY GeForce 8800 GTX cards and an ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard.

Yeah backup both and zip em up and attach it on this thread. Then, first of all how did you create the bootable disk? Did you do that from within Windows XP?
nvFlash v5xx Commands... "nvflash -i0 -b pnyback1.rom" (Backup BIOS of First Card) "nvflash -i1 -b pnyback2.rom" (Backup BIOS of Second Card)

Yes, I was making the boot disk while running Windows XP, I right click and select format then make boot disk. But then I'm not able to write anything to the floppy after I've done that, and every time I've tried booting from it, it tells me non system disk, re-insert and type any key to resume.

I did a search but could not find what I was looking for. Is it possible to flash the GeForce 8800 GTX's individually while they are both on the mainboard in SLI mode? Only reason I am asking is I have both cards water cooled and it is a pain disconnecting the setup just to put one card in at a time. Thanks in advance for the help.

You will need a bootable DOS media, nvFlash v5.38 or newer and of course the BIOS to flash.

Well normally you should always use the normal way to flash, except in certain cases where you flash from one brand to the other then you might need to force the flashing due to different identifiers.

I can run up to 650/2000MHz overclocking at the moment. What does the higher shaders do? Also, can I flash with both cards in? Meaning in SLI config, thanks.

I have moved your post to the appropriate thread... And to give feedback the higher shader will give extra performance, so you should best increase it as well to get that bit much out ot fit. When you overclock via software, the shader clock is automatically increasing as well. The flashing in SLI config is all possible...
