Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 vs Pentium D 960? - 2006/08/08 00:02 I wish and wonder for a review or comparison about a Pendium D and the new Core 2 Duo processors. Just to really see those big difference...

Re:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 vs Pentium D 960? - 2006/08/08 00:12 The AMD Athlon 64 FX60 kicks the Intel's Pentium D butt, the Intel Conroe kicks AMD Athlon 64 FX60 butt. Not fair to compare any other Intel processor to a Core 2 Duo (Conroe) cause it will get its clock cleaned. Period!

Like I said, I didn't see many other Pentium CPU's there only the Pentium D 965 EE, last of a dying breed. Would like to have seen it overclocked as well for comparison to a Core 2 Duo E6300, E6400 overclock? Some stellar performance there my Pentium D 840 EE missed the party...

Mmm, well if you would have read some Core 2 Duo reviews, you would have seen that are always compare in the benchmark results with the AMD Athlon 64 FX60 or X2 and the Intel Pentium D in most cases. Check out the below link with the benchmark results.

Re:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 vs Pentium D 960? - 2006/08/08 02:48 If it mops the floor with an AMD Athlon 64 FX60 it most certainly will mow down an Intel Pentium D 960...

Re:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 vs Pentium D 960? - 2006/08/08 10:41 Thank you guys .I know for sure that Core 2 Duo beats the Pentium D, but how much? Is it good for me or for everybody upgrade to a new system CPU, motherboard and memory if right now I have a Gigabyte 955Royal with a Pentium D 960, OCZ 1GB DDR2-667 and GeForce 7900 GTX. A six month old system? I want to hear your opinions. Thank you.

Re:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 vs Pentium D 960? - 2006/08/08 10:58 Well that is something you need to decide... I am upgrading from a Intel P4 3.0GHz (Prescott) to a Core 2 Duo. So if you read some reviews then even going from a Pentium D 960 to a Core 2 Duo E6300 (with/without some overclocking) you will beat that Pentium D 960. It is up to you, but since you processor is quite new you might want to wait the answer of AMD as that would mean price drops maybe by Intel...

Re:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 vs Pentium D 960? - 2006/08/08 16:46 Well I found a comparison that uses an Intel Pentium D 965 with an AMD Athlon 64 FX62 and an Intel Core 2 Duo processors, maybe this should give ya some insight...

Indeed, but it is the same review as I had posted some posts above... You just need to check all page and you can see that an Intel Pentium D 965 (at 3.73GHz) is almost twice as slow as an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (at 2.88GHz). The AMD Athlon 64 FX62 just falls in between. So really the Core 2 Duo is the way to go. And you should know that the Core 2 Duo E6400 can even be higher overclocked on air cooling to about 3.0-3.2GHz.
