Re:Some advice on Netbook to go for, and can you help out here? - 2009/05/22 08:42 Basic414 wrote:
Hi, here is a interesting tool called FlashPoint for all of you that have a Netbook with SSD's. I got an Asus Eee PC 901 with 12GB SSD and its burst write speed went up by 300%. No joke, and it is stable so I hope it's helpful.
Thanks for sharing, I don't know what it does fully but I can see that this is a kind of software driver that will allocate some system memory to accelerate the performance of the SSD, which is rather a trick as it uses system memory to buffer the data and as such it seems the SSD is faster which in practise it really isn't. And that is also what they explain, so yes performance will go up but the write speed of the SSD will really be the same though the buffer acts on behalf and as such is showing greater performance.

Re:Some advice on Netbook to go for, and can you help out here? - 2009/08/11 14:40 Well, although I have now got an Aspire One D250 and I am quite happy with this netbook as it is quite nice and sleek with great performance I do feel a bit annoyed that just now Acer has also released an high definition version. With that I mean that my version has a resolution of 1024x600 while this newer version while still being a 10.1inch is now 1280x720. So I feel like wanting to switch to such a version.

Re:Some advice on Netbook to go for, and can you help out here? - 2009/10/09 03:03 Hello, I'm new here, but I'm a long time user of your program, it's great. That's how they get you with releasing a netbook and just a few later getting one with high definition just because the competition does as well.

Indeed, you are right and it does sell more of course. But I did stick to my normal Aspire D250 as I saw that Nokia is coming soon with their first netbook which looks great, stylish and have a great bunch of features with a GPS included. So I am just holding on to my cash for this one and go for it most likely and sell my Acer afterwards.
