Oblivion. too demanding? - 2006/08/08 03:14 hay all just wanted to here other peoples thougts on the performce in Oblivion. i just find it to be quite toooo demanding, now personally i find it odd that i could run Far Cry on 1600x1224 with MAX settings and be playing at frames rates between 30-80fps With a 6800series card, but then u go to play oblivion on even medium settings with no HDR and ur only playing at 15-28 FPS. is it just me or did games LIKE far cry, half life 2, doom3 look better? don't get me wrong oblivion has got to be one of the funnest games! but then id rather play far cry and be able to have fluid performance at HIGHEST detail setting then play oblivion on mediam detail settins at low frame rates. i mean far cry simply looks SO good. but i think there is just something wrong with Oblivion odd even with a $2000 gaming rig it's like trying to play doom 3 on max settings with a geforce 4 just my thoughts. anybody else have any thoughts?

Re:Oblivion. too demanding? - 2006/08/08 04:17 well the 6800 is a decent card just it seriously lacks what the newer cards can do . try not to run it such a high res. try 1024x768 with aa and af still looks just as clean and plays a lot better . i know when i had my 6800le i was playing need for speed most wanted at 1024x768 with 4 aa 4 af and it not once had a hiccup ( keep in mind i was on an amdxp cpu as well ) its not what you got its how you use it is what counts .......

Re:Oblivion. too demanding? - 2006/08/09 22:20 For me with 6800Ultra and Pendium IV 2.8Ghz game runs ok at 1024x768 with
all eye candy full.I have 40~80 fps but a have a lot of problems.Sometimes
the screen blackout.I still hear the sound so I'm sure that the game run my computer not freeze just esc and the game menu is ok but return to game no picture so I have to restart the game. This hapens also in my new rig with P D960 and 7900GTX so my opinion is that the game is buggy and need a patch. Also I don't think that Oblivion is too heavy game for 6800Ultra.Speaking
of heavy games why don't all of you try Call of Juarez demo. That's a heavy game.
