Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and your feedback? - 2008/10/06 15:10Wonderful, I've got a clean system BIOS at hand. So any advices how to get out GPU BIOS from it? I triend to Google it, but didn't find anything. Mmm, I think I've got it. Actually Ican't do anything about it, right? No tools developer can't open it, and if it will, if even I change clocks etc, I should put it back and write it back into the system BIOS. Well I can torture developer until he will do something, right?

So if you want to share your system BIOS, please do start your own thread and we will see if we can extract the video BIOS from it. And which developer you are going to torture, as there is nothing we will do about as it is not a real video BIOS extraction issue, as all is in the system BIOS. Secondly the laptop manufacturer will not be allowed to share tools they have most likely received from the system BIOS brand.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and your feedback? - 2008/11/07 18:35Will the following version of NiBiTor support the GeForce 9600M GS, which has DDR2 memory I think. And I have attached my BIOS file. The card I have is from an Acer 6930 laptop. I really would like to copy the settings of performance mode 3 to mode 1 since the NVIDIA Linux driver only uses performance levels 0 and 1 and no other. In other words, it runs at 250MHz core and 500MHz memory while it should be running at 400/800MHz. I am also hoping for a fixed NVIDIA Linux driver but that could take some years.
Another feature request, when a BIOS is unsupported like my GeForce 9600M GS you get a listbox for choosing the generation of card you think your card is belonging to. In this list GeForce 9 series is missing. In my case, choosing GeForce 9 series would possibly be similar enough for a GeForce 9600M GS to work.

Yes we will normally add the support for this BIOS and also check about that feature request, though it won't make much difference as the structure of the GeForce 9600M GS BIOS is different from the others, so even with it in this case wouldn't have made it work any better.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and your feedback? - 2008/11/12 08:27I have tested this version and I still can't modify my fan speeds. I have a Leadtek WinFast PX9800 GT card and when I click in fan speed IC button all the values in the fan speed IC settings window are blank, the automatic speed and dynamic speed are disabled and when I try to modify some value, it doesn't work. I have tried loading a GeForce 8800 GT BIOS and it works fine, but not with the GeForce 9800 GT nor GTX. Thanks in advance.

Well first of all if you change the subject once more your post wil just be removed, we always stick to the initial subject if not you start yoru own thread. On the fan speed for the GeForce 9800 series, this was actually already explained once we released NiBiTor v4.5, and that is that these BIOS's don't have a fan speed table and therefore it is normal all is disabled or blank.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and your feedback? - 2008/11/21 13:44I already modded about twenty video cards with NiBiTor so keep up the good work. Since a couple of weeks I got a Acer 7730G notebook with a GeForce 9600M GS but with DDR2 memory. The problem is that there's a overclock protection in the BIOS. So I can overclock only the shaders of the card or I have to use the old and slow ForceWare 169.04 drivers. And NiBiTor v4.6 doesn't support my graphics card. When is NiBiTor v4.7 coming out and does it support the GeForce 9600M GS with DDR2 memory? I really like to see support for my graphics card, thanks in advance.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and your feedback? - 2008/11/30 16:46Hi there, first of all I'm sorry if my English is not so good, but I'm an Italian guy. I know this has already been discussed with my friend leshcat, but I want to give it a try anyway. We are facing problems in extracting, submitting and reading in fact everything except updating our GeForce 9600M GT BIOS with HP Pavilion DV5 series. During my endless tries I have discovered that NiBiTor software actually can recognize our GPU card.
The problem pops out when the submit BIOS button is clicked, two secs freezing and then ugly blu screen. And GPU-Z hasn't been updated so far, so BIOS can't be read or extracted with this tool. RivaTuner is the only tool which can actually do something relevant, there is some kind of analysis of the BIOS, but I think it's quite unuseful for you guys.
We have already tried to contact HP asking for an overclockable BIOS update and they asnwered back, they released two BIOS updates concerning GPU BIOS. Nothing changed. I don't know if you guys can do something about our issue. If not, I apologize for this waste of time. Otherwise, we are in your hands! Thanks for your time, and congrats for this fabulous forums!

Can you actually extract the BIOS from a bootable DOS media using nvFlash? Cause really if also that software can't do it there is not much that we can really do about it. If nvFlash can do it, and also correctly there is some chance to find answer to get it working for NiBiTor as well.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and your feedback? - 2008/11/30 21:47Thanks for your quick answer. I'm gonna try do dump GPU BIOS with nvFlash as soon as I manage to get a USB drive. Is there any danger in dumping the BIOS? After all, it's just a reading operation, so I don't think it could be dangerous, but I would like your opinion! Thanks in advance.
