Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/16 22:59 Just to keep you all in the loop and also due to the most recent issues of being down for almost a day, and while asking the support team no answer was given as to what the reason was and also due to the some problems encountered today with the database that was not accessible. So at this moment we are looking into moving towards a better hosting company and yeah one that is still affordable. Stay tuned for more news in the future and greater dedicated server.

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/16 23:08 Oh, that is why I couldn't get on the site today. Glad it is again up and running, and I hope you find a good deal in both server and support, but also the pricing. Cause I know these dedicated servers don't come easy but with downloads and forums you really need that to keep the performance up. Good luck in finding what you need, all to support us. Thanks!

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/17 23:09 First of all I am glad to report that I have found a new hosting provider that has given us a great offer and I have actually gone for it. So they are preparing the new server which should be a big change. Just so you all know currently this site is run from a dedicated server, that is power by an Intel Pentium 4 running at 2.80GHz with just 1GB memory, and we have been using for the last 3 years now. The next one is way better, but more details when it is ready to switch.

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/19 01:36 Well the server move has taken place, just let us know if there is anything you find not working or missing. Normally all was moved over, but you never know that something went missing in the process. And yes also let us know if the response is any better cause we are keen to know. For those who want to know, this is now an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 with 4GB memory and as you can quite an update from our previous one.

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/19 04:54 I noticed a small improvement in loading times. However, physical distance from the server is probably preventing me from seeing any real benefits thanks to my massive ping.

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/19 11:30 Thanks for the feedback and indeed since it is now at a different hosting provider, it is located at a different spot and the response might be a bit different for each of you. This is the first phase, the new server. We are now planning to also move the forums to its own forums solution so that it is no longer an integrated module as it is becoming a burden now this way of working.

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/04/26 11:54 Just so you all know, the downloads section is a bit affected by the server switch and actually having the newer PHP and mySQL versions, which means Internet Explorer is only seeing corrupted downloads. But when using any other brower such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera, etc the downloads are just fine. So please be patient while we try to fix this and also know we are doing some backen site upgrade at the same time to offer you all a better service.

Re:Server upgrade planned due to recent issues we are changing? - 2009/05/11 15:21 Well, since we have been checking the issue with the downloads we haven't found yet why Internet Explorer is acting up and also because we are going to use new downloads environment and site redesign, we are not investing any extra time into this. With the new downloads script we should be better equipped but it requires a migration of all the data.
