BIOS backup problem, saves file of 0 bytes - 2005/02/06 01:26 I'd like to take a look at my BIOS with a hex editor but I'm stuck when trying to backup my current BIOS.

I used nvflash on my Sparkle GF6600GT and I got these results.
Reading adapter firmware image...
Image size: 0 bytes
Version: unavailable (invalid)
~CRC32: 00000000
Subsystem Vendor ID: 00E9
Subsystem ID: 0000
Saving of image complete

Afterwards I check on my floppy and like I thought there was a *.rom of 0 bytes... What did I do wrong? Is my BIOS locked somehow or can I try some other parameters?

I tried the nvflash "--save" parameter too but no result...

Re:BIOS backup problem, saves file of 0 bytes - 2005/02/06 01:31 Hi! Use the more recent version of nvFlash v5.13 or use Mavke's flash util.

Re:BIOS backup problem, saves file of 0 bytes - 2005/02/06 01:52 Well you don't need a real DOS startup diskette. With that I mean that you can make one from within Windows. How? Well you go to Windows Explorer, and then right click on Floppy Drive and choose Format Diskette, and then select Bootable Floppy. Once that is done you have a Bootable Floppy, which has a lot of space.

Then you use the following Tool we created!
MVKTech Flash V1.1
Flashes and saves SLI BIOSes in SLI or Single Mode.

This version has a menu...
>> 1. Single Backup PCI-E/AGP Card BIOS
>> 2. Dual Backup PCI-E SLI Cards BIOS
>> 3. Single Flash PCI-E/AGP Card BIOS
>> 4. Dual Flash PCI-E SLI Cards BIOS
>> 5. Exit

And the Backup BIOS is saved under "Backup" directory on the floppy... I hope this helps you getting it we gotten very good feedback on this nice tool!

Re:BIOS backup problem, saves file of 0 bytes - 2005/02/06 01:54 And also supply to your Original BIOS to us! Even if you think we already have it, cause most visitors think that and when we check it out it is a different one... You can mail your Original BIOS to us.
