Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 00:53 Just for your reading pleasure only, I'm not sure I place confidence in this response, however it does suggest that if you find a BIOS update for any BFG card, you should question its origin...

Thank you for contacting the BFG E-Mail support group.
Gene, we don't actually release BIOS for our card...hence why you are not able to find them on our website. Only a few graphics carsdcompanys do this, but in our case it would void our lifetime warranty.

* Please always reply to the last reply from us so we are able to see what was accomplished with the previous correspondence.

Thanks Again!

Subject: BIOS updates

What are the availible updates for the BFG6800 GT OC? And why are they not posted on the website? Can you email me the lastest BIOS for the card?
Gene

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 01:27 Well, I can say only that all BIOS on this site are Original BIOS's. And yes some do not come directly from BFG. And well BFG Support has already send out BIOS updates in the paste. They sometimes do and sometimes they don't... I think it is linked somehow to how you ask or why...

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 01:37 Hummm, just to be clear, I was placing doubt on BFG Support, not on this site. I've been happy here before and after I joined up as a member with the files I have had occasion to download.

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 01:44 I know, but just wanted to make sure the rest of the visitors get the correct information. I have noticed that when I asked something without mentioning something I get a later reply from BFG Support, then when I mention that I work for a review site...

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 05:14 To help all of us with the 6800 Ultra and Nforce3 250 mobo issue where there are randopm pauses with Fastwrites enabled, you should contact them and tell them you are reviewing their product for a major review site and are experiencing this issue in conjunction with this setup. Maybe they would be more inclined to assist you and perhaps provide an answer or bios fix. You really are the reviewer so you have more leverage to help us all out.

Just a thought...

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 06:09 Well, why don't you contact them? Cause basically you have a BFG card and you have an issue with it. Just clarify what you have as issue and if they have an update to solve this...

I can mail BFG Support just by saying I will make a review and when it comes to know that there is no review. That will lead to a very bad impression on our site!

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/01 07:38 I am sorry if I came off as trying to make you and your site look bad. I am just an my ends about solving this problem. SOOOOO many people suffer from the same thing. I have been in contact with BFG support before and they bascially told me to stuff it and just disable the feature.

I can't accept that because on my system, having Fastwrites enabled makes gameply feel so much smoother. I was just hoping that you could pull your leverage and help us all out. I apologize for asking you to make yourself look bad.

I guess I could just make up a new email address and and tell them I am a reviewer and stuff. Hmmm, I might just have to do that....

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/02 03:40 I am curious about your comment saying that the fastwrites makes the gameplay smoother. I have a 6800gt as well. When I first got it, I was getting a blue screen of death every 1-2 hours of gaming saying that there was some nv4_disp error. I found out that turning off fastwrites fixed this problem. Now, after a fresh install of the OS, latest mobo drivers, latest mobo BIOS, I'm trying it out again and it seems to work ok. the only thing is... i can't really tell the difference.

Does it affect AAxAF performance? picture quality? (im not sure it does much for f/ps)

Re:Response from BFG Support concerning BIOS updates - 2005/02/02 04:17 When I say that gameplay feels smoother I do not mean faster FPS or increased visual beauty.

What I mean is that it makes gameplay feel more fluid. There are less tutters or little hitches and just feels overall more fluid and smooth. Do you understand yet?
