Re:Just modded my own GeForce BIOS... - 2005/01/19 21:35 Hi Hossa!

I have excactly the same Card Leadtek 5900XT. Im running it with 450/850. Maybe i could go a little bit faster but I think itīs enough for my card I also tried several Bios including 5950U and so on. At the moment i use the original XT Bios (modded to 1,5V and slightly faster timings) Since the 5950U has looser memory timings the XT bios gave me some more points in Benchmarks.

To get some more points in Benchmarks you also could try some different drivers aswell. For example the Driverset modded by JRd1st (just check the download section on this page). These should bring you some more points

....So 2 days ago i started to study the "modifying guide" written by jimmor, and by the way FREAKING NICE GUIDE YOU MADE THERE JIMMOR!!!!!

Today I started editing my original bios for higher clock speeds and voltage. also changed the latencies and mem timings as mentioned in the guide, the only thing i want to know when changing the mem stuff, what do these numbers mean? Like when changing the volts or frequencies, its always a conversion of the value you want....but with the mem stuff, i really would like to know what that nice 28bit digit or the other eight 8bit digits mean!?
...

Thanks for the appreciated comment !

Don't be too concerned about the 28 bit timing string values as they are not easily converted to anything that would be meaningfull in the normal understanding of memory timings. Suffice to say that the best values for any particular card will mainly depend upon memory chip type (manufacturer) and NS rating. And my guide identifies some typical values that can be tried.

As for the 8 bit latency string, it is only important to know that the best string value for a 128 Mb card is "07 00 0F 40". And "07 03 0F 40" for a 256Mb card.
