Re:VID core only showing voltage of 1 - 2005/01/03 09:23 I'll probably try 1.4V at first and check to see how high temps go. If they go to high then I'll try your bios(which i've already downloaded). Thanks for your help and will let you know how it goes.

Re:VID core only showing voltage of 1 - 2005/01/03 10:18 When I check the monitor it doesnt show voltages?? It has the clock speeds and temps, and Core VID non dimensional whatever that is. Can I get it to show the voltages?

Re:VID core only showing voltage of 1 - 2005/01/03 10:52 1. To set up the Hardware monitor, open RT (RivaTuner )

2. On the opening screen click Customize . . . under Target Adapter next to where the card description is.

3. Hardware Monitoring is the 5th button. Click it and a graph will appear. Most of it will be set up already but you'll most likely have to set up the VID monitor.

4. Right-click on th VID graph, then click Setup, then More, then Autoselect.

5. Play with the HW monitor buttons to see what they do. It's a great tool.

You can have it log to a file and when you exit a game double click on the file to see readings from some time ago. Only drawback is that it stops logging when the file reaches a certain size. Makes sense to do that but there should be an option to erase and start the file over .

Enjoy!

Re:VID core only showing voltage of 1 - 2005/01/17 02:18 Thanks JRd1st,

I have successfully flashed to the modified bios you gave and used latest 15.3 Rivatuner to re-open pipes/shaders at 1.3 V. Temps seem to be about the same as using 1.2V. I haven't pushed it now to see how much o-clock the new bios will give, but this gives me something to play with....

BTW- I did have to reload drivers since now my card is showing up as 6800GT. Also had to use this command to force the flash....nvflash -4 -5 -6 biosname.rom

Thanks Again

Re:VID core only showing voltage of 1 - 2005/01/17 23:12 It only took one day and after restarting machine everything on my display was garbled. I blindly flashed back to original bios and it seems to have recovered. Don't think i'll be flashing anymore.

Re:VID core only showing voltage of 1 - 2005/01/17 23:33 That's probably the best thing you have decided to do. Flashing cards from one manufacturer to another (cross labeling) and flashing for performance gains is really a hit and miss situation. Cross vender labeling and changing all these parameters for such small yields in performance is just not worth the over all hassles it creates and the legal issues that can arise from doing so.

Plus it gives all the scamers in the world a means to cheat people over retailing a BFG card as Gainward or some fool will try to sell someone a 6800Ultra on eBay when its really a 6800 standard, undermining the very purpose of flashing was geared around, BIOS is only going to be around for a short time to come and then everyone will have to start the sad singing and slow dance routine and move on. Every manufacturer out there is aware of all the vender-relabeling going on and you can bet your life when you least expect it, those multi-million dollar companies are going to protect themselves at the cost of this very ordeal!
