GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/14 00:08 Hey guys, just wondering if there is a solution for my problem I am having. Every time I use nvFlash to flash my GeForce 8800 GT with a overclocked version of the BIOS or even save my current BIOS using NiBiTor and edit it with faster clocks when I return to Windows the NVIDIA driver always fails and the screen goes black and comes back on. This will happen every couple of minutes until I revert back to the original driver.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit version and I am using an Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT stock clocks of 600/1800MHz with shaders running at 1500MHz. I have tried a combination of clocks from 650/2000MHz and 625/1950MHz and various others but all cause the driver to stop responding. Cheers for any help.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/14 11:25 Sorry but we never flash to try the overclocking of our graphics cards, we always first check through software if the overclocking we would wan to try to flash in the end works fine first. So before we get into anything about the BIOS we need one answer first, did the overclocking you are trying work flawlessly through software overlocking? And secondly what power supply do you have?

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/14 14:18 I used the software overclocking tools provided by NVIDIA and it worked flawlessly through the software overclock with no driver stopped responding error and did this for around a week of playing various games such as Crysis Warhead. I then decided to BIOS flash the graphics card with its own BIOS just tweaked in NiBiTor and after soem minutes into gaming I received the driver stopped responding message. I am using a OCZ Silent 700W power supply. Thanks for the reply!

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/15 20:44 Thanks for the information, can you share the original BIOS that you tweaked with NiBiTor? Also did you just change the clock speeds or also the voltage levels? With the original BIOS we will do the same as you and provide it to see if ours will make ny difference. So does that sound like a plan?

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/21 12:13 Okay, that does sound like a plan indeed. Please find attached my BIOS which I have edited with NiBiTor. Also I didn't change the voltages as I did not think it was a big enough clock to justify it but since you mention it that might be what is causing the driver to stop responding as there is not enough voltage. I hope this helps!

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/21 20:00 Sorry but we asked the original BIOS and not the tweaked one, cause we don't know what you have changed and done and if we start playing with this one it will not make any difference. Get us the untouched original version and then we will see to tweak it the way you want. And before flashing, you wil need to make sure all overclocking software is disabled or better uninstalled, as well as the drivers.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/22 22:04 Sorry about that, here is the untouched version of the BIOS as you requested. That way you can see to tweak it and I can afterwards see if it makes any difference.

Okay, so the BIOS looks good and it is like any standard GeForce 8800 GT with clocks at 600/1800MHz. Now as you wanted to overclock through BIOS which worked through software we are first just tuning it up to 625/1900MHz, but we didn't change the shaders. Can you try this one, and before you do please disable or uninstall all overclocking software.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/24 22:11 Hey, so I have flashed my GeForce 8800 GT with the edited BIOS you have provided and have done some 3DMark Vantage testing and played Battlefield Bad Company 2 for some time and have not received the driver not responding pop up! I will continue to monitor this for another day just to make sure, however I am starting to think that when I had clocked to 650/2000MHz before asking for help there was not enough voltage and possibly causing that error! Thanks for the help so far.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT drivers failure after overclock BIOS flashing? - 2010/03/24 22:41 Okay, well let us know how it goes and then we can take it to the next level with also increasing the shader clock, cause that is what should be done. And if that works we can even try higher clocks, such as 650MHz and see if we can up the voltage a little if really needed.
