Re:Gigabyte GeForce 6800 and trying to update the BIOS version? - 2008/09/04 23:12
I would assume it will have to be a ".rom" file for nvFlash, and extracting it to a ".rom" should not be to difficult. Or you could check the BIOS section here for a newer BIOS. You are just trying to get latest version on your card ? So nothing is wrong? Cool, then I would for sure be checking to get some more performance from your Gigabyte GeForce 6800, such as with RivaTuner to see if there are any pipes that can be unlock and then modding any BIOS that you decide to use with some higher speeds, keeping the card stable of course.
Some vanilla GeForce 6800 were able to unlock extra pixel and vertex processors, with a simple check of boxes and reboot. Some even got them flashed to the GT BIOS as there is a 128MB version of the GeForce 6800 GT, just have to compare the memory and speeds for close match and get some nerve to try it. And have read up on how to recover from a bad flash, like blind flash if no PCI card to help with, yes, flashing is isky business...
