Re:Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X and how to recover from a bad flash? - 2010/03/12 03:58 Very minor progress. The card seems to work alright in an ASUS A8N32 SLI Deluxe mainboard and I was able to get the stock BIOS back onto the card using this. The card posted fine about 95% of the time from a cold boot. Then I put it in an ASUS P5N-E SLI mainboard and it wouldn't boot at all from a cold start, the fan just stuck at 100%, red light on card. However after starting the computer and then hitting the reset button, the graphics card would come to life and work fine. Looks like I will have to pursue a RMA with Sapphire...

Yeps, that is what I would think so as well, cause it worked fine before and after some months it is no longer so either it requires a good cleaning, which is something I do regularly as computers are dust collectors and that is the biggest enemy of components that get hot and require decent cooling. But if you checked that, the solution is to make use of the warranty and get it replaced.

Re:Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X and how to recover from a bad flash? - 2010/03/13 01:39 It's nearly spotless, so surely not heat or dust related the problem that is appearing. That I have checked and made sure, just to be save before I will initiate the request for replacement and use the warranty.

Re:Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X and how to recover from a bad flash? - 2010/03/16 09:57 Okay, then indeed I would use the warranty and get it replaced cause it will surely be something with the hardware itself that might not be working as it should and causing that behavior. And since it is a Sapphire they do have a good warranty service, so you best use it so you get a replacement and can enjoy a working graphics once again as before.
