Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT BIOS some read problem... - 2007/01/11 00:26 Can you please tell me what to do? I tried RaBiT onto another PC with Windows XP 32-bit and this time I don't get a driver error (got the error in Windows 98 and Windows XP 64-bit). But the clocks in both my BIOS's and the one posted are wrong... However once I change them and reload the program it indicates the changed MHz. Is it reliable to flash my card with that BIOS?

Also what should I do with the memory timings? Should I change them? Is it wise? Generally speaking what would you flash my card at? I don't want to reach the safety limit so I was thinking 650/1850MHz... Opinions?

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT BIOS some read problem... - 2007/01/11 09:48 Okay, I have checked and you are right. Even with the Radeon X1950 XTX there is an issue with RaBiT v2.2.0. So I informed the coder to check it. I wouldn't use it to change the clock speeds on the Radeon X1950 XT or XTX BIOS until this is fixed.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT BIOS some read problem... - 2007/01/11 23:23 Any news Mavke? What about the memory latency? Is it wise to change it? What would you suggest for a Radeon X1950 XT?

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT BIOS some read problem... - 2007/01/17 16:45 Well I have raised this with Jaz, the coder of RaBiT and provided him the BIOS's and so on. So this is what I gotten back from him related to this and RaBiT. Jaz compared active clocks with BIOS info, part of log followed...

Radeon X1950 XT PCI Express BIOS
- Core clock = 500.00MHz (625.00MHz 3D)
- Memory clock = 594.00MHz
> OverDrive 3 Table:
T = 0..120°C, GPU = 500MHz, Mem = 594MHz, VDDC = 1.15V
T = 0..105°C, GPU = 625MHz, Mem = 900MHz, VDDC = 1.40V

Radeon X1950 XTX PCI Express BIOS
- Core clock = 508.00MHz (650.00MHz 3D)
- Memory clock = 600.00MHz
> OverDrive 3 table:
T = 0..120°C, GPU = 508MHz, Mem = 600MHz, VDDC = 1.15V
T = 0..105°C, GPU = 650MHz, Mem = 1000MHz, VDDC = 1.40V

No, no troubles found... All freqs are correct. So where is the mistake? Or maybe this explanation is just what you needed to get to what you wanted?

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT BIOS some read problem... - 2007/01/18 08:03 Haven't overclocked an ATI ever since the Radeon 9800 PRO and I didn't remember that RaBiT reads the 2D clocks. Plus the fact that the program says theres a driver problem. What else should I say? NVIDIA has a much better overclock procedures... What about the memory latency?

Well that is just how it works with RaBiT, there might be better solutions but unless you got the time and the skills to design such a program I don't think someone will be doing it. Well unless you offer quite a big amount of money of course. With NVIDIA it is another coder so really you can't compare. And these tools are not coming from ATI nor NVIDIA but are coded by some nice guys who know what it is all about. For the timings we can't do much unless we know what memory chips you got...
