Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/10/30 00:54 Unsuccesfully... I checked the GPU and it is a R480. The Tul BIOS works at the default clock speeds but artifacts horribly even with a mild 20MHz overclock. With the stock BIOS I can run it at 570/558MHz with no problems at all. Getting 4800 on 3DMark05, didn't even waste my time trying it with the Tul BIOS. Oh well. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

System Specs...
- AMD64 3000+ @ 2.5GHz
- DFI LP SLI-DR
- Seasonic S-12 600W
- 1GB Mushkin Redline XP4000
- PowerColor Radeon X800 GT

Thanks! Been busy too. I'll have to take a look at my card. Thanks again!

So with the stock BIOS you can overclock, but with the new BIOS you can't... That is rather strange as there is not that much differences on the BIOS level. But since you get excellent speeds with your stock BIOS I think you can't complain much...

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/01 06:41 Just got a GeCube Radeon X800 GTO 256MB PCI-E (CrossFire ready) and ATITool reports it's a R430 core with 12 pipelines... RaBiT says R423. The BIOS is similar to the one you (we) have but not exactly so I'll attach it...

Is there any chance unlocking any pipelines and how? Found an article about a Sapphire Radeon X800 XL same core and speeds with 16 pipelines should I flash it? If it's a bad flash I use a similar procedure as NVIDIA (blind flash/PCI card) to get my VGA back?

I read above about unlocking with RivaTuner, know the how to...on NVIDIA but have no clue on ATI...

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/01 23:26 Tried some BIOSes but only one worked the Sapphire modded to 16 pipes... The only magor change is that now ATITool says I have a R480 core but the pipelines are still 12 pipes... Fortunatly the process of recovering a bad flash is similar to NVIDIA's blind flashes, so I'll keep testing Sapphire BIOSes to see what happens...

Something else GeCube don't have extra voltage socket but the PCB has holes and contacts for the standard IDE/CD-Rom power socket. Remember reading somewhere, don't ask, about supplying power to some Radeon 9600 XT's soldering male floppy disk connectors...should I try it?

Please advise...

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/03 17:02 Ok, tried all, and I mean it, all Radeon X800/X850 XL/XT (16 pipeline) BIOSes and non fitted my GeCube exept the modded one with 16 pipes for Sapphire posted in the first page posted from Mavke but as I already told you kept my pipelines to 12...

So I suppose I only have one solution to solder in the connectors availiable on the PCB a HD/CD-Rom power socket and retest BIOSes and performance... But I am a bit or more affraid and have no moral support/advise... Mavke were are you?

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/04 01:49 Ok, I'm sure that this forums has had this question a millon times but I downloaded the Connect3D Radeon X800 GTO BIOS and tried to install them... I'm thinking that I may have more problems with the way that I was trying to install them than anything. I was trying to use FlashBIOS util to do this, is this incorrect? Anyway I would type what it says in the forums where I found it..
Advanced Guide: Flashing a Video Card BIOS

I am not sure but I couldn't get any of this to work! Any suggestions? I would really like to use the modded BIOS you have for download here, cause 16 pipes is just what I want.

Thanks in advance,
DarWrath

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/04 17:24 Well this is the procedure you should follow...
  1. Make a bootable floppy (DOS

  2. Copy the attachement (unzip it)

  3. Backup your original BIOS (don't forget it)

  4. Copy also in the floppy the BIOS you want to flash

  5. Flash the modded BIOS using FlashROM

Don't turn off... Restart and keep the floppy in place... If the first post screen look ok let it boot in Windows if not... Reflash with your Original BIOS!

FlashROM Commands
"flashrom -s 0 backup.rom" (Backup your Original BIOS)
"flashrom -f -p 0 newbios.rom" (Flash new BIOS on the Card)
"flashrom -f -p 0 backup.rom" (Flash back to Original BIOS)
FlashROM v2.40

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/04 17:35 As always use it at your own risk...for me it worked. I have only destroyed one VGA card and done more than 100 flashes and it was a NVIDIA... If you get a bad flash then you have to do a blind flash to restore your card so write the commands down... After you type the command line wait till floppy stops operating wait an additional 15sec and restart.

Re:Some modded Radeon X800 BIOS's... - 2005/11/04 21:59 How do you not restart from DOS? Anyways, what I did was just on that forum I would type....
"flashrom -s 0 backup.rom" (To backup my BIOS)
"flashrom -p 0 Connect3D.X800GTO.16pp.rom" (Flash BIOS)
And I tried it with "-f" command with not luck... The Connect3D Radeon X800 file is at the beginning of this thread I just copied what was in the zipped file to the floppy. This is a PCIe card not an AGP... If I use "0" and not "o" it gives me the adapter 0 not found error.
