Re:GeForce 9600M GT and how restore from a BIOS flash failure? - 2010/02/01 21:16 Thank you, but I was just thinking, does the GeForce 9600M GS BIOS achieve the magic? No, for sure I have plenty things to do rather than mastering with my iron solder but I was guessing that maybe the BIOS of such a card could perform a different initialization, a more compatible one with all those limited laptops we are aware of. What about it?

Re:GeForce 9600M GT and how restore from a BIOS flash failure? - 2010/02/01 21:36 Euh, and why would that make any difference? Sorry but I can't follow really what you are thinking. The initialization won't be different at all as the these GeForce 9600M series all have the same basis for the BIOS and only the device ID and some other parameters controlling the performance are different, but that is just it. So really your thinking doesn't make any sense to me.

Re:GeForce 9600M GT and how restore from a BIOS flash failure? - 2010/02/02 19:38 You are right with such assumption however there are users who have stated they have experienced different behaviours with different BIOS's once they plugged their GeForce 9600M GT inside. Usually the Acer BIOS is the one that allows passing boot and let the operating system load, others do not. So I was just guessing that maybe the GeForce 9600M GS variant BIOS can do the magic with such notebooks and similar. Dinner time, I have to go...

And that is just normal really, you can use different BIOS's and one will do that little extra more and another not, but don't expect any magic, that we have never seen before. And it will give certainly different behavior but don't think it will just make all the problems go away. You can always try, but you will have more chance it will get even worse.

Re:GeForce 9600M GT and how restore from a BIOS flash failure? - 2010/02/03 12:57 I was thinking so but now that we have those instruments to go on even in the worst situation I would give it a try. Surely in middle time I have other things to do now rather than specializing myself in BIOS recovery. The matter is that the GeForce 9600M GS which comes with 512MB of GDDR3 memory such BIOS is somehow very uncommon. Are you responsible of the downloads updates? If so, could you be so gentle to let me throw a voice whether such a BIOS will come in? And thanks for the good conversation, bye!
