Overclocking the PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ and can you help? - 2009/06/26 16:46 Hello, the PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ version has only a CPU clock of 300MHz and memory clock of 200MHz. I don't have any NVIDIA chipset motherboard, therefore I use the ATITool. I can set the clock for core at 740MHz and memory at 2200MHz, but after a restart from Windows XP, the card keeps the old settings. Does someone have another idea what I can try to overclock this graphics card? Thanks.

Re:Overclocking the PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ and can you help? - 2009/06/28 14:20 Sorry mate but I can't believe what you are saying. Yes indeed the GeForce 9800 GTX edition comes with a 2D clock setting at 300/200MHz but also with an Extra clock setting of 740/2200MHz which is used during all gaming activities. So that means when you just use the card in Windows XP it is normal that it just runs at the 2D settings as you don't need more, but when you start a game it will automatically jump to the Extra mode and run at 740MHz. If you can share with us your original BIOS of that PNY graphics card we can check it out.

Re:Overclocking the PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ and can you help? - 2009/06/29 08:54 Hello, and thanks for you answer. We need this card for our application and not for games, therefore is very important that the card run with the full speed. I will look for an utility that set this card permanantly to full speed. Thanks.

If it is a 3D application it will use the full speed of the card cause as soon as 3D operations are required the card will automatically gear up to the Extra mode which runs at 740/2200MHz and as such will just work at that speed. So what application will you run? Cause I am quite certain it will just work at full speed. And to set it always at that speed in whatever mode this is only fully possible if you tweak the BIOS, if else it might always drop down again.

Re:Overclocking the PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ and can you help? - 2009/06/29 10:12 We use a self made program, and just use the speed for the graphics card and not a 3D view. I have seen, that the speed goes up if I launch any 3D view. We will include any 3D libary in to the application, and this should solve the problem.

Re:Overclocking the PNY GeForce 9800 GTX+ and can you help? - 2009/06/29 18:03 Okay thanks for sharing and indeed if you somehow use the 3D library to use the full potential of the graphics card it should automatically shift into full 3D clock speed mode as you want to see. So good luck in that!
