Re:BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC, with no boot and display outputs? - 2008/05/31 05:58 Right, I think I'm gonna go for the XFX GeForce 9600 GT XXX Alpha Dog edition card instead. The very best GeForce 9600 GT there is so I'm not losing very much performance at all at 1650x1200 resolution. Obviously this is because there's no VIA compatability issues with these cards and would save a whole lot of hassle? What do you think about this decision?

Re:BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC, with no boot and display outputs? - 2008/06/01 09:39 That is all up to you, but really I would go through the hazzle cause you can't tell me that you haven't got any friends who you cango to and try out your card? Really it is extremely simple to try out and using NiBiTor it will then only take some seconds to backup the BIOS so we can check. And don't think you won't loose much, in the new games the difference is very noticeable and certainly at the resolution you mention. So I wouldn't even consider it as your BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC edition is a very overclock friendly card, where you can gain a lot more, while the GeForce 9600 GT won't do that much more and does perform already less in shader intensive games, which are all recent games and all upcoming.

Re:BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC, with no boot and display outputs? - 2008/06/09 16:50 Hey, finally got the XFX GeForce 9600 GT stock clocked. I overclocked it to the Alpha Dog clocks, so saved about £20-30 and I am getting 10659 points on 3DMark06. And it runs Crysis on 1280x960 on high easily. Unbelievable! Super happy with this card it doesn't get much better.

Anyway thought I would let you know the outcome and thank you so much for all the help Mavke, your a great man and they should pay you to be here, lol. If I have any other issues some time I will definitely come back here. Thanks again, let the gaming begin!

Thanks for the kind words mate, well it would be nice if youc an visit us from time to time and also share your default config benchmarks scores with us on our thread about it. And what would be nice is if you can share with us the original BIOS of your XFX GeForce 9600 GT graphics card.

Re:BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC, with no boot and display outputs? - 2008/06/10 03:24 Make sure you run the ForceWare 175.70 beta drivers, best for Crysis that I've seen. I'm yet to test the new ForceWare 175.80 betas, but I have been busy.

Thanks for sharing the feedback and results with our visitors. Yeah I will as well need to get some extra time to try out some drivers, but lately it is so busy I don't get around it, so thank you!

Re:BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC, with no boot and display outputs? - 2008/06/11 03:03 I will benchmark the latest ForceWare betas in a few days, so give me 2-3 days and I get around to it. Exams are taking up my time right now, so I am a bit stuck there.

Thanks mate, and take your time. I can understand exams do take a lot of time and those are more important. So in some days or even more is just fine, it is just nice to see these.
