GeForce 8600 GT, how force boot from DVI with 2 monitors? - 2008/03/02 14:51
Hi, hope you can help. I have just built a new PC with an XFX GeForce 8600 GT card. During the build I had a monitor attached to the VGA port. The build went fine. I then reconfigured in Windows XP to have my Dell 2407 monitor on the DVI as primary and an old Iiyama CRT monitor as secondary in Dualview. Again this is all fine. My problem is when I boot with both cables connected, VGA and DVI the PC always tries to display the post startup info on the VGA port not the DVI.
Most of the time this monitor is off so I don't see anything until Windows loads. If I disconnect the VGA cable the post displays on the DVI. I want both cables connected but the post to appear on the DVI. Can anyone help? The mainboard is an ASUS P5K-E/Wifi AP and I have tried various options in the mainboard BIOS but nothing seems relevant or makes any difference. Thanks...
