NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP, some checksum error at boot up? - 2007/11/24 16:54 Hi, can someone please help me. I purchased a GeForce 6200 AGP 256MB card for my HP Xw6000. Whilst it works fine, on bootup I keep getting this BIOS error, 101 options rom checksum error. I have to press F1 to boot the system. I have updated the BIOS on the motherboard but same error remains. Please help. Thanks.

Re:NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP, some checksum error at boot up? - 2007/11/24 21:30 Hi mate, please find below some of the PC 1xx error codes system board or setup errors. So just a list and your issue is listed as well. Your PC respectively your mainboard is now roughly 5 years old? Isn't it? Have you ever replaced the battery in this space of time? Are there other expansion cards built-in, maybe a sound card? Unplug these cards and and try again. If it works use an another slot for your sound card.

Error Codes System Board...

101 - System Board Interrupt Failure
102 - System Board BIOS ROM Checksum Error

Re:NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP, some checksum error at boot up? - 2007/11/25 09:01 Good idea, indeed it might be the battery on the mainboard that should be replaced with a new one. That is kind of a typical issue that can come after some years. So it woiuld be a good idea to check that.

Re:NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP, some checksum error at boot up? - 2007/11/25 09:25 Hi, it is on the AGP slot only have one and the time is well kept, so it can't be the battery. I read on another post that the HP BIOS's dont like the new type of cards.
GeForce 7900 GS, and a strange checksum error at boot?

Yeps indeed somehow it is related but your card is way older than the GeForce 7900 GS so it might still be different. And it is not because your PC can still keep the time in sync that the battery is not empty or almost empty as that is currently done via other means to keep the clock going...

Re:NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP, some checksum error at boot up? - 2007/11/25 14:42 Hi, would an XFX BIOS fix the problem? If so how do I install it and what is an XFX BIOS? Thanks...

And what would be the point of that? Just wondering what you are really thinking, cause if I understand and read this well you are wondering about something and you don't even know what it is... Sorry, but that sounds just a bit too crazy. Just so you know XFX is a brand, and no a BIOS flash of your graphics card won't make any change as the system is complaining about a system board error. So it has nothing to do with the graphics card but with the mainboard. That is the same thing we said on the other thread as well. So stop thinking it has something to do with the graphics card, it is not that...

Runs your PC if you starts with the video card which was originally build-in? To explain why I asked this question would be a long story and I won't trouble you with the details. Which kind of BIOS do you used? A BIOS of the mainboard producer or is it a specifically HP BIOS? Do you know anything about any restrictions concerning a possible change of hardware or software?
