NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.1 Software Released!
Written by Mavke
Wednesday, 15 July 2009

Well we have has just released a new version of NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) software. NiBiTor is the original and definitive BIOS tweaker that supports the latest NVIDIA graphics cards, and which is updated on a regular basis. NiBiTor allows graphics card enthusiasts, or the hardcore overclockers to have full control over some advanced features and functionality found on firmware of supporting cards. And doing so users gain some extra performance, enable certain hidden features, tweaking memory latencies, provide extensive information, adapt bootup settings, changing fan speed options and/or get extra stability on their NVIDIA based graphics accelerators which will just give them that little extra value.

Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Toxic Card Design Preview
Written by Mavke
Tuesday, 14 July 2009

The video card market is slowly moving forward and today we are taking a look at the Radeon HD 4890 from Sapphire. Though this is not just the standard version that we received, but the Toxic edition. That means that this card comes slightly higher clocked and should as such give a nice bump in performance. And again Sapphire is going their usual way, which is all about product differentiation and that is what they are bringing to the public. We are going to compare this versus some high-end and mid-range cards to see what kind of performance we can get from this setup. So of course Sapphire has other versions, though this one it the most affordable next to the standard one, though improved. - Red&Blackness

MSI GeForce GTX 260 Lightning Black Edition Review
Written by Mavke
Saturday, 11 July 2009

This is the best GeForce GTX 260 graphics card on the market at this moment. Maybe this statement sounds too pompous, but it is pretty much real. The MSI GeForce GTX 260 Lightning is card that was created as result of MSI efforts and goal to create the perfect graphics card. This model is obviously best suited for enthusiasts, for users that don't ask for price when they want to have best piece of hardware in its class. And this class is very important, because no matter how good and fast this card is, it will never be faster than most GeForce GTX 285 and faster models, although it will be capable to put a good fight against the GeForce GTX 275 graphics accelerator which has a slight edge though. - InsideHW

Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X Cool Style Review
Written by Mavke
Friday, 10 July 2009

As more and more GPU's find their ways out of the factories and on the shelves, we feel the need to show you the performance of yet another video card in ATI's lineup. Sapphire's Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X version seems very promising from it's rather crafty box art, to its sinister yet hovercraft appearance out of the box. Of course the box isn't just important though is one attraction point that can't be neglected whereas the actual hardware and performance will actually make the difference. However before jumping to conclusions, is picking one of these latest and greatest GPU's really the best choice? Many can be deterred just by price alone. And yet does the GPU perform as well as one would like? - TechwareLabs

Galaxy GeForce GTX 260+ Oc Tri-Fan Version Review
Written by Mavke
Thursday, 09 July 2009

With twelve months old the GeForce GTX 260 name would have to be one of the longest lasting models we have seen from NVIDIA in a long time. And a company that has a tendency to release new models almost quarterly kept the GeForce GTX 260 around for a long time and while it's known as the GeForce GTX 260+ these days due to the improvements we saw on these models a bit back, it still follows the same principal. The model was really designed to offer some serious bang for buck and it did that twelve months ago. But even today it still does that, continuing to offer serious performance. What we also see with models that have been around for a while is that companies are able to mix these up. - TweakTown

Sapphire Radeon HD 4770 512MB Video Style Review
Written by Mavke
Wednesday, 08 July 2009

These top end graphics cards from both NVIDIA and ATI are becoming more and more expensive and with the current economic crisis, those two don't exactly go hand in hand. As an result, ATI came up with the Radeon HD 4770 with a price point of around $100 which should appeal to a much wider range of users. This card is also ATI's first to be manufactured using a 40nm manufacturing process and contains 826 million transistors, 640 shader processing cores and 512MB of GDDR5 memory. How well exactly will the Radeon HD 4770 be able to compete? Well, we just have an Sapphire Radeon HD 4770, so let's see how it shapes up and whether it can cause a drop in prices in competing video cards. - XSReviews

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 275 (GT200) Graphics Preview
Written by Mavke
Tuesday, 07 July 2009

NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 275 edition was released a few months ago. It's aimed at the higher end of the gaming market, and it's meant to be a direct competitor to ATI's recently launched Radeon HD 4890 graphics card. We know we are in the middle of a recession, which could be the reason there have been short supplies of these boards on the market. We have only just managed to get a sample from Gigabyte and we are just very keen to check it out. Earlier this year we had the controversial release of their GeForce GTS 250, a simple rebranding. And, when NVIDIA released the GeForce GTX 275, we were rather intrigued to see whether this card was actually a new product or just a re-package old model. - CPU3D

Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Atomic 1GB Series Review
Written by Mavke
Monday, 06 July 2009

The Atomic series of graphics cards are one that we really do get excited about when it comes to Sapphire products. Since unlike a lot of other companies who overclock, Sapphire tend to really mix it up with these particular series. We don't only see some serious clock speeds, but also something fancy in the heatsink department which always helps bring the card to a new level. With that said, we have high hopes for the Atomic version of the Radeon HD 4890. We don't want a little bump in clock speeds nor do we want a cooler that doesn't perform better than the stock cooler, be it in the temperature or noise department. So let's see or find out if Sapphire can impress us with their Atomic edition. - TweakTown

Sparkle GeForce GTX 275 Video Card Edition Preview
Written by Mavke
Thursday, 02 July 2009

So if you have followed the graphics card industry for any length of time, you are undoubtedly familiar with vendors such as ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI. The GeForce GTX 275 card we are looking at today is from a manufacturer we're not personally familiar with, though Newegg's substantial selection of various Sparkle products suggests it has flown under our radar. At the same time however, the company's website has a large coming soon tag hanging off it. Luckily the main Taiwanese domain has any information you need and it's easy enough to find product data. Sparkle produces two variations of the GeForce GTX 275, one being the standard version and also one edition being slightly overclocked. - LegitReviews

ASUS Radeon HD 4890 Voltage Tweak Board Preview
Written by Mavke
Wednesday, 01 July 2009

The Voltage Tweak model from ASUS is something we've heard about for a while now. The idea behind it is that ASUS gives the user even more control of the card when it comes to overclocking. Not only do you have the ability to overclock the standard clocks like memory and core, but you also have the ability to adjust the voltage. You may be wondering what this exactly means, it gives you the ability to adjust the voltage to higher levels which in turn gives you the ability to run the graphics card at even higher speeds. While this may sound a bit scary to some people, we are sure that ASUS hasn't given you too much control that you could essentially damage your card as that would be a stupid decision. - TweakTown

Sapphire Radeon HD 4730 512MB Style Board Review
Written by Mavke
Wednesday, 01 July 2009

AMD's newest 40nm based Radeon HD 4770 was a great success, maybe more successful than many people expected. Together with the limited availability due to yield problems there were very few Radeon HD 4770 boards available on the market and those sold quite quickly. To counter this shortage, AMD has created the Radeon HD 4730 which is based on the RV770 which powers the Radeon HD 4800 series, yet it's heavily reduced in features. Just as an example the number of shaders has been lowered to 640 and the memory interface has just been cut down to 128-bit, but GDDR5 memory chips are still used which effectively gives it the same bandwidth as an 256-bit based Radeon HD 4830 card. - techPowerUp
